Walking Dogs in Summer: Health, Safety, and the Solgave Way

Summer dog walking is one of life’s simple joys—fresh air, sunshine, and happy paws. But in the Arkansas heat, it can also be dangerous if done without care. At Solgave Animal Solutions, we go the extra mile—literally and figuratively—to ensure your pet is not only safe but thriving on every walk.

1. Start Early, Stay Safe

When temperatures rise, timing matters. We schedule longer or more vigorous walks during the cooler morning hours, giving your pet the full enrichment experience while minimizing heat exposure. (every client has a different breed, different schedule, different demands but we meet the need with safety in mind)

2. Asphalt Awareness: Paw Check Every Time

A common but critical danger: pavement burns. At 85°F air temperature, asphalt can exceed 130°F. Our walkers always perform a barefoot-style touch test before heading out. If it’s too hot for us, we find a better path—or wait until it cools.

3. Ice-Cold Hydration on the Go

We take hydration seriously. Every Solgave walker carries a refillable water bottle and collapsible bowl, ensuring your dog drinks regularly. On hot days, we add ice and use soft-pack coolers to keep water cold.

4. Tailored Walks: No Two Dogs Are the Same

Some dogs love a half-mile power walk. Others prefer a gentle loop in the shade. We curate each route based on breed, age, stamina, and temperament—paying close attention to cues and comfort. We also offer backyard potty breaks that are 15 or 20 minutes as well, these include waste removal from the yard each day!

5. Transparent and Real-Time Communication

Every walk includes GPS tracking, photos, visit notes, and instant updates through our Time To Pet app. We want you to feel like you’re right there with us, seeing your dog enjoy the moment.
